Baby Girl has really come to enjoy books. We have a night time routine in which I read her several stories, depending on her mood and level of tiredness.
Currently our main three are Mommy’s Best Kisses by Margaret Anastas, the classic Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown and the board book Time For Bed by Mem Fox. These are all great bedtime themed books.
Goodnight Moon Game for Toddlers/Babies
There’s a little game that we play while reading Goodnight Moon together. On every colored double page spread, which is every other page turn, there is a little mouse somewhere in the room illustration to be found. Baby Girl questions “Air da Ow?” ~ i.e. “Where’s the mouse?” because she’s heard me ask it of her many a time. She loves searching for it and sometimes wants to read the book two or three (and more if I let her) times just to look for the mouse over and over again!
Another beloved book is this Jack and Jill board book. The text is pretty basic, just the nursery rhyme words, but she likes it a lot. Often times she’ll kiss Jill’s face goodnight. I think she likes the face because it’s soft and raised like a real dolly’s. I’ve been singing this one to her lately.
Lastly, the book Your Personal Penguin by Sandra Boynton is not part of her bedtime routine, but it is a book that Baby Girl thoroughly enjoys having read to her. I love Sandra Boynton books! She has a going to bed book that is very cute and would be a great addition to bedtime story time, but we don’t have that yet.
Another great addition to the blog!
