Yesterday was Hubby’s birthday.
We made his cake. Hubby requested a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I used the Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate cake recipe and frosting that are on the Hershey’s cocoa tin. The cake itself turned out very moist and the frosting was quite rich. Together they were good but one piece was more than enough. Both Mrs. Sayuri and Mr. Happy Feet couldn’t finish their slices of cake because of this, but they did manage to polish off their scoops of vanilla ice cream!
Mrs. Sayuri thought up the design of a snowman on top. She and I made the marzipan figures together with a little help from Mr. Happy Feet. We used gel food coloring to color it. We only had red, green, yellow and blue in our colors, so I mixed green, yellow and red together and made brown! We thought that was pretty neat. We used some toothpicks in the snowman to help keep him together and for parts like his stick arms. Our snowman is wearing a scarf, snow cap, and mittens and he’s all buttoned up for the cold.
We got some big snowflakes coming down yesterday and thought it might start piling up, but it didn’t. The children can’t wait to be able to make a real snowman outside one of these days!
Happy Birthday Hubby! We love you.
Cute cake! Love Mr. Happy Feet’s profile in pic 1!
