She’s A Natural
Mrs. Sayuri likes to help decorate cookies. She started out by doing a few cookies whenever my mom and I were decorating – it didn’t take long before she was hooked. Now she wants to commandeer all baked cookies and embellish them herself. We have to negotiate how many she will share! She loves it.
She’s actually started going over to my mom’s house alone some mornings to decorate with her. She loves to dream up cookie designs and gets very excited thinking about them. One of her favorite things is to pick the icing colors. She’s got a natural instinct for which colors go well together. She picked the green and purple for the batch in these photos.
Here we were experimenting with Karen’s Cookie’s Glaze Icing recipe. I’ve decided that I prefer the consistency of royal icing, but I am still glad that I tried it.
We make sure that we wear hair-nets so her wispy strands don’t get onto the cookies. We like these because they breath and don’t make her head sweat.
I love how she decorated this star cookie. Makes me think of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Who wouldn’t want to gobble that smiley guy up?
I also joined in on the decorating. I was experimenting with the swirling technique on the circle to the right. Mrs. Sayuri decorated the center diamond cookie all by herself, and it was one of my faves. She continues to improve with each session.
Oh my goodness!! So sweet and cute!!
I love her wearing the hairnet too. Seriously… love that. So WONDERFUL of you to teach her the importance of cleanliness and sanitation at such an early age. Impressive all around.
Thank you for linking too.
