This ribbon flower pin was made based off of this ribbon flower clip tutorial from SoHappyTogether, although I did mine a little differently.
This project came about because we bought this black skirt secondhand and noticed upon further inspection at home that it had a glue stain where some embellishment must have been at one time. My idea was to make something of our own to try and cover this up. This pin was born. We had some red ribbon lying around that I had saved from a package from my sister in law. The pin back I already had and the button was from my button collection. I love buttons by the way – you can never have too many!

Mrs. Sayuri helped pick out the button center which I think really added to the final look. I hot glued the center button on as well as a circle of felt to the back of the flower before adding a pin to the back of it. Since I made this in April of this year, the back has started to come off. I have to take it apart, remove the dried hot glue and sew it on so that it will be more secure.
So easy to make though. All you need is some pretty ribbon, a needle and thread and a clip or pin back depending on whether or not you want it for a brooch, a hair clip or even a shoe clip (like the original tutorial was). Happy Crafting! 🙂
Here’s a photo of Mrs. Sayuri in April twirling around wearing her skirt with the red ribbon flower pin.

Thank you for the information about the flower tutorial.
It’s lovely, reminds me of a Tango outfit!
