Song of Songs Photography Project
The above image is a new beginning effort at combining verse from Song of Songs with a personally taken photograph. I plan to make this a continuing series. There are lots more ideas in my head.
Shir haShirim (Song of Songs) of the Scriptures has been a focus of mine for a few months now. The love and passion inherent in these verses are pure and holy. I have felt deeply inspired to create photo-graphical images that will capture and convey some essence of its words.
I read Shir haShirim on the eve of becoming a bride. My (now) hubby and I incorporated some of it into our wedding vows and ceremony. One specific verse that sticks in my mind is “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine” ~ Chapter 1:2
Praise Him With The Dance
For the past month or so my family has been adding Hebraic dance to our Sabbath day worship and study. We recently learned the choreography for “Dance With Me” by Paul Wilbur, whose lyrics are taken directly from Song of Songs.
Dance with me
O lover of my soul
To the song of all songs
Romance me
O lover of my soul
To the song of all songsBehold You have come
Over the hills
Upon the mountains
To me You have run
My beloved
You’ve captured my heart
With You I will go
You are my love
You are my fair one
Winter is past
And the springtime has come
Dance with me
We usually close out our dance time with this since it is a nice slow song.
We are all loving the addition of this time of dance – the children included. Mrs. Sayuri is a natural dancer and has a ball prancing around with us. Her brother, Mr Happy Feet, gets into it too, but he mainly succeeds in getting caught under foot or just plopping himself down in the middle.
Psalm 149:3
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
truly, you are a talented photographer Nicole…what a great shot! 🙂
Beautiful photo, great job. Love the verses, so meaningful. Thanks for sharing.
I love that song. My church used a version of it and made a dance/video for our Easter service. It was so beautiful. One of our dancers was on stage and was on a bed. She was dreaming but started dancing in tune with the dream (which was projected on a screen behind her) it was of happy moments from childhood, to her parents splitting to being courted to her wedding then to divorcing and finally it was God calling her and directing her dance moves. It was pretty crazy but beautiful.
