Strawberries
In June we had the pleasure of going strawberry picking. There is a great farm in Windsor, NY called Titus Farms and their strawberries are delicious. Not officially organic, but local and they say they try not to spray.
Blueberries
Now it’s already blueberry season here in NY state.
This was our first time going blueberry-ing as a family. 🙂
We went early one morning before it got too hot and got to pickin’.
At $1.00 a pound it’s a great deal. Plus it’s organic – the farm is pesticide free. This farm is close to Windsor but a little east. It’s called Cascade Valley Farms. That has a nice ring to it – doesn’t it? .
We managed to pick 17 pounds! My mother-in-law made two delicious pies and froze many quarts plus we ate a bunch fresh. They had such yummy flavor!
We hope to get back there before blueberry season is over to pick again.
As my mother-in-law says “it’s easy pickin'”.
I enjoyed the photos of your family outing. Seeing your family, how you enjoyed “picking,” and what you did with your harvest was nice. These are good memories.
Yum Yum Yum!
We missed the strawberry picking but went blueberry picking last month. The season is a lot earlier in the South! It looks like you had a great time.
